Summary

Made up of five MSS, with:

(fol. 1) 'Dicciones Psalterij', imperfect at beginning: an explanation of words used in the Psalter: beg. 'Scriba id est magister, & est differentia.' At fol. 9v follow short notes, for a beginner in Latin, on the Psalms and Canticles

(fols. 37, 58v) Rearrangements of the words of Latin Hymns, so as to make the translation easy for beginners: some similar notes are on fols. 34-6. On fols. 77b - 78v 117v - 118v, are two lists of Feasts 'tenenda in episcopatu Her[e]fordensi.'

(fol. 53). A short English grammar: beg. 'How many partyse of speche ben ther ? viii.'

(fol. 79) Rules of prosody about the quantity of vowels before consonants, in Latin: imperfect at beginning: beg. 'Ytalus, Amalech, etc. Excipiuntur nomina tertie declinationis.'

(fol. 85) At end, 'Explicit Equiuocum quod R. P.', i.e. explanations of similar words: beg. 'Hic ponit auctor equiuocacionem huius diccionis Augustus.'

(fol. 119) At end, 'Explicit Tractatus qui dicitur Pars Oculi de Latino in Anglicum translatus per fratrem Johannem Mirkes canonicum regularem monasterii de Lilleshull . cuius anime propicietur Deus. Amen': beg. 'God seith himself . as writen I fynde'.
