Winchcombe, Gloucestershire, Benedictine abbey of St Kenelm: "In hoc volumine continetur liber uenerabilis bede presbiteri in libro ecclesiastice historie gentis anglorum quod quidem volumen pertinet ad monasterium Winchelcombense" (s. xv); inscription on a label now pasted to fol. ii verso but formerly fastened by 12 nails to one of the covers of the old binding (present binding of s. xviii). (MLGB3: evidence from an ex-libris inscription or note of gift to an institution).

Summary
At fol. 79v is a genealogy of Mercian kings, beg. 'Anno ... (626) Penda filius regis Pybbę': and at fol. 80 'Passio sancti Kenelmi martiris', with preface, text beg. 'Kenulfus gloriosissimus ... rex Merciorum': ends imperfect, a leaf or two being lost, 'quibus ducibus patriam beatus mar', but this imperfect chapter and the preceding one, in which an event of the year 1149 is mentioned as recent, have been added rather later.
Fols. 86-end are paper almost entirely blank: fols. 84-5 contain notes by Henry Petrie, Apr. 1828. The text is conflate, according to the rev. C. Plummer.

Custodial history
On a piece of parchment attached to fol. iiv is 'In hoc volumine continetur liber ... Bede ... quod quidem volumen pertinet ad monasterium Winchelcombense' (Winchcombe: 15th cent.). Owned by Thomas Rawlinson, who had the volume bound and wrote a note in it: in his sale (1733/4) no. 68 and bought by lord Coleraine. It bears the armorial bookplate of 'Phillip Carteret Webb', and was bought by Douce at the Brander sale.
