'BBC Horizon, Bookmark': correspondence and other papers regarding the 27 Jan 1986 BBC 'Horizon' documentary about penicillin, The Mould, the Myth and the Microbe and Macfarlane's contribution to the programme, and regarding Not All Blood and Bandages broadcast on Radio 4, 11 Sep 1986, about the use of penicillin in North Africa during WW2; letters of congratulation or critique on the 'Horizon' programme from Norman Heatley, Lady Chain, an evacuee who lived with the Floreys, and others, with further information and comments; papers regarding 'Bookmark', BBC 2, 21 Feb 1984, discussing Macfarlane's Alexander Fleming, 1984-1986.
'Letters about Fleming': correspondence, arranged alphabetically by correspondent, between Macfarlane and people with knowledge of, or who worked with, Fleming, mainly 1980-1984. Includes letters from Edward Abraham incorporating drawings, and a letter from Dorothy Hodgkin.
'Lysozyme (General)': mainly photocopies of published articles by Fleming, Florey and others on lysozyme and notes by Macfarlane, 1922-1974.
'Parke Davis Correspondence': correspondence with R.M. Howitt and Sydney Everett of the pharmaceutical company Parke-Davis regarding penicillin work at Hounslow in 1939-1940 and contacts with Fleming, 1981 [Parke-Davis was previously based in London].
