Collections made by James Bowen, a painter and undertaker of Shrewsbury (d. 1774: his printed trade-card is in Gough Shropshire 2, p. 744; 18, p. 41) and his son John, for a history of Shropshire and especially Shrewsbury: 'Antiquities of Shropshire', collected by James Bowen, chiefly extracts from deeds in private hands and church notes, in accidental order, 1752-3.
