Summary

Considerably shorter than the printed narrative (fol. Lond. 1655, where, at the foot of p. 426, this copy begins), and possibly a transcript (by a contemporaneous hand) from an original draught which was afterwards enlarged.

At the end is an appendix of documents which are, for the most part, incorporated in the text of the printed history: viz.

(fol. 70) "The first booke of Church policie; referred to the yeare 1560, Lib. 3." Printed at p. 152.

(fol. 105) "The second book of Church policie, referred to the year 1578, Lib. 6." Printed at p. 289.

(fol. 129) "The excommunication of the archbp. Adamson by the Assemblie at St. Andrew's, and his protestation against their foul proceedings, in large, to be referred to the year 1586." Printed at p. 345.

(fol. 133b) "The King's speach to the meeting at St. Andrew's, 10 of Julie, 1617." Printed at p. 533.

(fol. 134b) "Tuo letters from the King to the Bps. after the Assemblie at St. Andrew's, 25 Nov. 1617." Printed at p. 535.

(fol. 136) "The King's letter to the Assemblie at Perth, and its articles." Printed at p. 537.

(fol. 141b) "The articles of the Assemblie, 1610, about the government of Bps. as they stand ratified in the Parliament, 1612. Referr this to the year 1612." Printed, in a brief abstract, under the year 1610, at p. 512.

(fol. 145b) "The forme of electing superintendents exscryved from the Cronicle commonlie called Johne Knoxe's. To be referred to the fyft head of the first book of Policie concerneing superintendents."
