Watermarks include Ochsenkopf, several varieties including with lily (fols. 49–50 etc.; similar motifs with dates 1418–1424 in WZIS, WZMA) and with 'dreiblatt im kreis' (fols. 24–6; similar motif with date 1419 in WZIS); fol. 29, bell with six-leafed flower above (similar examples in WZMA dated 1418-c.1430).

5-line red initial, fol. 1; elsewhere 2–3 line red initials, sometimes with very simple arabesque decoration.

Binding

Contemporary binding of brown leather over boards, ruled in blind; clasps and bosses lost; re-backed and repaired. Contemporary contents label ('Jacobus de Uoragine de sanctis').

Acquisition

Presented to the Bodleian Library by his sons and received in 1857.

Erfurt, St Peter's: ex libris and pressmark C 32 on the upper pastedown, 15th century; pressmark C XXXII on the upper cover, with an older pressmark, XXVI; ex libris, 18th century (?), fol. 1r.
