Summary
Lipson was the inventor with C.A. Beevers (q.v.) of the Beevers-Lipson strips for Fourier analysis. After work at the Crystallographic Laboratory, Cambridge, Lipson made his career at the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology where he was Professor and Head of the Physics Department for many years.
