Possibly given by Thomas James in 1601. (The Benefactors' Register only records the gift by dr. Thomas James in 1601 of 'Biblia vulgatæ editionis' folio.)
Provenance
New College, Oxford: On fol. 352v (cf. 350r) is written faintly 'Eleccio siue nominado scolarium admissorum [?] in collegium beate [Marie] Wynton in Oxon' followed by three hardly decipherable names of which one is Willelmus Buttermere', which fixes the date as 1492: on fol. 350 is 'Magister J. Lucas', perhaps the John Lucas who was fellow of New college in 1407–14.
