Olim liber P. Le Neve, et inter codices suos numero 355 insignitus.
To an extract from Wood's Athenæ respecting Dr. Parsons, prefixed by Rawlinson to the volume, the following notice of this volume is attached: "He made the following collections towards the history and antiquities of Gloster, of which some, tho' little, use was made in that pompous but injudicious piece published by sir Robert Atkyns of Saperton in that county. This MSS. came afterwards into the possession of the Rev. Mr. Jonathan Colley, M.A., chaplain and chantor of Christ Church in Oxford, and then to Peter Le Neve, esqr., Norroy king of arms, where it was purchased in an auction of his library sold in March, 1730, by Dr. Rawlinson." The sum given by the latter for the MS. appears from a priced copv of Le Neve's catalogue to have been £3.16.6.
