Summary
This film features the milk cooperative at Anand, Gujarat, the largest cooperative dairy in the world. It shows all the processes involved, from villagers feeding and milking their cows, to bringing milk for testing and sale, and shows the benefits to the villagers, such as new hospitals, schools and family planning centres. The film explains the background behind the grant of £108,000, which was raised by the Glasgow and Clydeside Freedom from Hunger group in just two years to purchase equipment for a new cattle feed mixing plant. Dr Shah, the Dairy Husbandry Manager, has approached Oxfam for a grant for equipment that would produce improved cattle feed and thereby double production over seven years.
