Volume, c.1821-3, containing a (pp. 1-73) annotated draft entitled 'Journey to the Eastern desert' (an early version of 'Notes on Part of the Eastern Desert of Upper Egypt'), and (pp. 75-182) annotated draft (with appendices) entitled 'Extracts from Hieroglyphical and other Notes in Nubia', with (pp. 186-8) notes headed 'In Abyssinia' and (back endpapers) pencil sketches of dogs.
