Binding

Half-leather binding over wooden boards, ruled and stamped in blind, fifteenth century. Sewn on three double bands. Contemporary contents label and pressmarks C .49., C xlix. Strap-and-pin fastening lost (closing on the 'front' board). Stamps probably of the bindery of St Peter's, Erfurt (w002367), including 'vierblatt' (s015813), rosette (s015819), lion (s015828)

Traces of turn-ins from an earlier binding on the lower pastedown.

Acquisition

Presented to the Bodleian Library by his sons and received in 1857. Former shelfmark 'Addit. IV. A. 5' (fol. ii r).
