Summary
The ancedotes were compiled from extracts of Mary Harcourt's letters and relate to her travels, with her husband William Harcourt, in Europe during the French Revolutionary Wars. The ancedotes concern William Harcourt's visit to the Austrian and Prussian army commanded by the Duke of Brunswick, Aug.-Oct. 1792; his service in the British army commanded by Prince Frederick, Duke of York and Albany, in Flanders, 1793-5; and Mary Harcourt's accompaniment of Princess Caroline of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel to England for her marriage to George, Prince of Wales, Apr. 1795. Includes (fols. 37, 43-4) letters, in French, from Count Amédée Harcourt to Mary Harcourt, June 1794.
