Binding

A composite binding, with the original wrapper preserved inside a modern binding (all a pair with MS. Canon. Gr. 125).

15th century, Italian (as MS.): a limp parchment wrapper (now fols. i, 244, spine lost?), enclosing several similar paper booklets; title on fol. 244v in Greek capitals dated 1476, doubtless by the scribe, Petrus Franciscus. 290 95–97 c. 44–45 (book closed; lower cover shorter than the textblock’s 293–295 mm.).

19th century, second half, Bodleian: light brown leather over pasteboards, blind lines round edges, spine with gilt title and Bodleian shelfmark; board-edges and leather turn-ins with blind roll tooling . 311–313 110 c. 53–58 (book closed).

Purchased by the Bodleian in 1817

Provenance

Date misread as 1470 in the Quarto Catalogue; see Gamillscheg and Harlfinger for the correct date.
