Summary

Letters originally housed in a cardboard 'Xpania' concertina file with alphabetical sections (the concertina file can be found under shelfmark MS. 23701/16). The letters are addressed to Margaret Newbolt (née Duckworth) unless otherwise stated.

Margaret primarily filed the letters by surname but there are some exceptions. For example, the letters from Ida Darwin are under 'I' rather than 'D'.

Charles L. Graves (signed 'CLG'), assistant editor of The Spectator and Punch, 1938

Violet Hodgkin (née Holdsworth) (six letters), 1919-1951. With further letters to Margaret Newbolt from Ellen 'Nelly' Bosanquet on the anniversary of Violet's death, 1955, and from Helen Sutherland (four letters) about a memoir of Violet, [1955?]-1956
