The real name of the fanatical mystic who wrote under the pseudonym Hiel was Hendrik Janson, or Jansen, who lived in the Netherlands in the middle of the seventeenth century. See Arnold's Kirchen-und-Ketzer Historic, Frankf. am M. 1700, vol. iii. pp. 23–30.
In Adelung's Supplement to Jöcher's Allg. Gelehrten-Lex. he is erroneously identified with Friedr. Breckling, a German mystic, who died in 1711.
