photocopies of correspondence between David Astor and others interested in the future of South Africa, including a letter, 7 Jan. 1987, apparently amended by Sampson, from David Astor to Dr Henry Kissinger, former US Secretary of State, referring to a meeting arranged by Sampson and Astor in June 1986 between African National Congress representatives and businessmen, and educational trusts set up to support training of Africans in government administration, encouraging Kissinger to use his influence to persuade Americans to take a more realistic view of the importance of the ANC and its relations with the South African Communist Party, 1986-1987, mainly typescript
