16th-century English calf with a stamped panel divided into compartments containing alternately a portcullis, a rose, fleur-de-lis, and the initials 'H.R.' (see J. Basil Oldham, Shrewsbury school library bindings: catalogue raisonné (Oxford, 1943), pp. 12, 13, and pl. 46, roll. 37).
