Summary
At end: 'This is the last of all the xxiiijor pageantes or playes played by the xxiiijor craftesmen of the Cittie of Chester, written in the yere ... 1604 ... per me Gulielmum Bedford.' This is a transcript of the words of the 24 Chester Mysteries or Miracle plays (in this MS. divided into 25). Of the prologue or metrical Bans only the part dealing with the separate Companies is here copied, beginning with 'Of the drapers yow the welthie Companie' (the first stanza, about the Tanners, not having been copied, though their play stands first in the series), and ending with six additional lines, printed by Markland. The date of the last performance of the plays is believed to be 1575.
