Summary
The title (fol. 3) runs as follows: "The consent of ancient and late writers, men of eminent piety, learning and place in the Catholique Church, all approving his Majesties late declaration for the peace of the Church, and for moderation in the present controversies; notwithstanding their different judgements concerning God's mercie to mankind, and the merit of our Saviour's death. The whole faithfully transcribed out of the originall authors, and delivered in their owne words."
On the first leaf of the book is the following address to the King: "May it please your Majesty, This booke containes a Defense of your Majesties declaration for the peace of the Church, prefixed to the Articles; which is readie to be published or suppressed as your Majesty shall give commandment." The introductory leaves 4–13 are occupied by a preface.
An address of thanks and congratulation to K. Will. III. from the inhabitants of Dorchester, in Dorsetshire, presented by Sir R. N., Recorder, is inserted on a fly-leaf.
