Summary
The allowances that have been ordered by the Queen to the surviving bishops out of their own rents, though not yet paid, are so small that they need not provoke envy, being but £300 to each archbp. and £150 to each bishop, with £ 180 to the Bp. of Edinburgh; if immediate care be not taken to hinder it, all will be given to laics.
Seal; a saltire, in chief a mitre [the arms of the see of Edinburgh], impaling three pelicans, on a chief three stars; [Paterson]; motto, "Pro rege et grege."
