Summary

Fol. 6. A detailed scheme devised by Thomas Lupton for a general collection towards repairing sea-banks and damages by floods in Lincolnshire, helping the poor in Lincoln, York, Canterbury, and London, and poor scholars at Oxford and Cambridge, erecting free schools in Hertford, Tewkesbury, Ross, Horncastle, Bourne and Market Deeping, etc., preceded by a poem (fol. 5) presenting the petition and scheme to queen Elizabeth. Apparently an original MS., partly at least in Lupton's own handwriting

Fol. 35. The Statutes of Gloucester Cathedral, given by Henry VIII, A.D. 1544, in Latin: a transcript made early in the 17th century

Fol. 49. The greater part of a Rental of lands belonging to the Dean and Chapter of St. Paul's in London, in about A.d. 1510, in Latin, imperfect at beginning and perhaps at end

Fol. 264. Commentary by John Grenehalgh on a Latin inscription on an altar found at Chester in 1653, in Latin: a transcript by the writer made about 1670 (?). The inscription is now at Oxford (C. I. L. vii (Britannia), no. 168)

Fol. 270. Letter from dr. Robert Plott to dr. John Fell, explaining a design for a journey through England and Wales, to promote the study of the antiquities and natural curiosities of the country, about A.D. 1670

Fol. 281. 'Of the Oath of Supremacy . [a word or two in short hand]': beg. 'In answer to a speech' by archbp. Nicholas Heath in 1559 (?), apparently written about 1630-40 (?)

Fol. 300. An account of the proceedings at Woodstock on 22 Aug. 1631, when the King decided a question of contumacy in the University of Oxford in resisting the King's instructions (Thomas Ford's sermon): beg. 'The Kinge haueinge spent some time.'

Fol. 310. A treatise on Church government, with especial reference to the King's power, in eight chapters, in Latin: the first leaf is lost: ends 'rebus omnibus ordinis gratiâ.' Written in James I's reign, and transcribed about the same time
