Summary
For the arms of Oxford are given the arms of the University, the open Bible between three crowns, bearing the words "xx Exod. Decem * * * Omnipotens mandata. Verbum Dei manet in eternum. Amen." These mottos do not appear to be elsewhere noticed as having been ever borne on the University shield.
