Summary

Ballad opera. Libretto by Mary Fairclough. Pencil draft of the vocal score (fols. 1-41), ink fair copy of the overture in piano reduction (fols. 43-44v), sketches, leaves of libretto etc. The work was completed 27 May 1953, but the pencil drafts of the vocal score are dated between 23 July and 15 December 1952. Vocal score published in 1962. A photocopy (from the Novello Hire Library) of a copyist's manuscript full score, re-orchestrated by Peter Akister in 1963, is at Mus. 22 b.64.
