Summary

One of two bound musical notebooks brought to William Sterndale Bennett from Germany by his friend Gerard F. Cobb and used by the composer as a sketchbook. The content is described in detail in the Williamson catalogue under 'The 1866-1873 sketchbook' in Appendix I (pp. 515-517). The other notebook was known to J.R. Sterndale Bennett, but is now missing.
