Acquired by the Bodleian in 1804

Provenance

On fol. 1 are the initials 'Iō Mã' and Pächt and Alexander (ii. 734) note that these perhaps refer to Gian Matteo Bottigella; for comparable initials, see MS. Canon. Class. Lat. 295. The initials are written above a coat, azure a column or surmounted by cross keys argent on a chief of the second an eagle displayed gules (or sable?)and Pächt and Alexander ( ii. 734) suggest that the arms are probably those of the Visconti d'Aragona. (Gian Matteo Bottigella married Bianca Visconti.) Cf. MS. Canon. Class. Lat. 295.

Summary

The title probably covers fols. 1-49v, but several additional poems in Latin follow, presumably by the same author.

On fol. i is 'Iõ Mã' above a coat, azure a column or surmounted by cross keys argent on a chief of the second an eagle displayed gules (or sable ?): no doubt the book was written for this person.
