From the collection of John Nichols, Gough's executor (cl. 1826). Included in the sales of the library of John Gough Nichols, grandson of the above, in Dec. 1874 (where MSS. Gough Middlesex 8-9 formed lot 1103) and April 1879 (where no. 36612 formed part of lot 187). Subsequently owned by Mr. John W. Ford.

Acquisition

The collections were purchased at Sotheby's on Feb. 19, 1914 (lots 818, 820).
