Hands

The main part of the MS has been copied by the Hieromonks Ignatios and Metrophanes Koimenos Stakteas between 1562 and 1629: fol. 175v: Ὅσοι πιάσετε τὸ παρὸν νομοκάνονον νὰ τὸ διαβάζεται, μὴ μέμφεσθαι τὰ σφάλματά μου διότις τὸ ἀντιβόλαιεον ὁποῦ τὸ μετάγραψα ἤτον κακοῦ γραφέως· καὶ διατοῦτο μετα βίας ἠδυνήθην τοῦ γράψαι τὸ παρὸν ὡς ἄνωθεν· δέομαι μέμνησθαί μου: - in cryptogram (in red ink): Χεὶρ ἰγνατίου ἱερομονάχχου Χεὶρ ἱερομονάχου μητροφάνους

Binding

Typical Holkham binding of brown leather, with Coke family ostrich crest in gilt in the centre of the upper cover. Date: early nineteenth century. Rebound by John Jones of Liverpool (worked for Holkham 1816–1823. Spine: RATIONALE/MONASTICUM/ G. R./ on a pasted black part: MS./HOLKHAM/Gr. 14
