Correspondence between William Macmillan and his parents while at Merton College, Oxford. 1903-1906

Family correspondence, including correspondence with Lt. Col. T. Ormiston [cousin], Mary and the Reverend John Edgar [Jack] Ennals [sister and brother-in-law], Kate Macmillan [sister], Nellie, Ernest and Ivy Layton [sister, brother-in-law and niece], Jean, Tina and Tavish Macmillan [cousins], Kathleen de Waal (later Hamman and Hoffman) [niece], E. C. [Elizabeth Caird] Macmillan [mother], Kate Lindsay [aunt], M. Robertson [mother-in-law of brother Reverend Thomson Macmillan, missionary in New Hebrides, now Vanuatu], Florence Levick [cousin], Christina Guyett [cousin], Tina Macmillan and Dan de Waal [sister and brother-in-law], Duncan Macmillan [uncle], Pieter and Doreen [De Waal, nephew and his wife], Mary Thomson [aunt], and Jean [possibly Sutherland or Macmillan, first wife]. Also includes letter from Elizabeth Caird Macmillan to "Nelly", her sister Helen Lindsay from Madras, India, describing her wedding in 1867, and letters regarding the death of Robert (Bertie) Macmillan [elder brother] who died of wounds in the South African War in 1900. 1867-1965

Correspondence with Reverend Thomson Macmillan [brother], Free Church of Scotland missionary on the island of Tanna, New Hebrides, from 1895 to circa 1935, and members of his family in New Hebrides and Australia, including his sons Wilfred Ewart, Lindsay and Hamish, his first wife Annie, his second wife Elsie, his grandson Donald and his granddaughter Ruth. Also includes photographs from a synod at Port R. [probably Port Vila, New Hebrides], photographs of HMS Mildura, photograph of Robert (Bertie) Macmillan's grave in South Africa, photographs of Australia and of Thomson Macmillan and his family, reprint of paper Further Data Relating to Melanesian Populations by Patrick A. Buxton, and letters sent by Thomson Macmillan to his mother [Elizabeth Caird Macmillan]. c. 1895-1937, 1954-1977
