ii (17th cent.) + 101 + ii (17th cent.) leaves The margins trimmed (occasionally affecting quire signatures).
Hands
Carolingian minuscule, s. ix2/3, basically by three groups of hands, belonging to the later Hunbert group: 1) (fols 1r–36v) several hands; 2) (fols 37r–73v) a single hand; 3) (fols 74r–101r) several hands, similar to group 1.
Decoration
Red rubrics/opening lines at the beginning of bks 7 & 8: (fol. 1r) the rubric and second line of text in red rustic capitals, (fol. 41r) the rubric in square capitals (with uncial features), the first line of text in monumental capitals, provided by the scribe.
(fols 1r & 41r) Two simple two-line initials in red to both books, the first line of text in monumental capitals, (fol. 41r) in red.
Binding
Brown tanned calf over laminated pulpboard for Abp. Laud, 1637–1639.
Acquisition
Given to the Bodleian as part of his third donation, dispatched on 28 June 1639.
Provenance
Written in Würzburg, Domstift St Kilian, s. ix2/3, by several hands belonging to the later Hunbert group, probably there until the 13th century..
Würzburg, Dominican convent: the codex came into the possession of the Dominicans some time in the 13th century (after 1230, the approximate foundation date): (f. 1r) cloverleaf mark in ink, s. xiii?; (f. 101v) shelfmark, s. xiv.
