Provenance
The Christ Church, Canterbury inscription '.BOS.', fol. ii, indicates that the book came to Christ Church from Herbert of Bosham. C. F. R. de Hamel (in Manuscripts at Oxford, viii.1), suggested that he was also scribe and illumintator. Herbert was in France from 1170 to 1184 and in Paris for part of the period 1173–1176; since the style of decoration is Parisian it is likely the book was written there.
Christ Church, Canterbury: inscription, fol. ii., and shelfmark 'D'.ij.Gª.xi.': no. 855 in Eastry's catalogue, no. 46 in Ingram's catalogue.
Richard Colfe, prebendary of Canterbury, d. 1613 (de Hamel, 'Dispersal of the library of Christ Church', in Books and Collectors 1200–1700, ed. Carley and Tite, 273).
