Summary

Divided into six books, of which this volume contains the first three, in 57 sonnets, with long explanatory comments:

Book i. "The names wherwithe the Holie Ghost in the Scriptures hathe unfolded vnto us the ioyes of heauen."

Book ii. "The place of joy."

Book iii. "The joyes of the soule."

The author speaks of himself in his introduction as being "a stranger to his owne language, for ninteene yeares discontinuance in forraine cuntries."

Prefixed to the title-page are directions for the designing a frontispiece, in seven compartments.
