Initials with penwork flourishing.

Binding

Brown tanned calf over laminated pulpboard for Abp. Laud, 1637–1639, rebacked.

Acquisition

Part of his third donation to the Bodleian, 1639.

Provenance

Eberbach, Cistercian abbey: ex libris, 15th century, fol. 1(b)r.

Eberbach, Cistercian abbey, library of the abbot: ex libris by Abbot Martin Rifflinck, c. 1500: 'Liber virginis gloriose in Ebirbach - Hic est Marie - Ad usus abbatis Ebirbacensis', with number 'I' at top (fol. 1(b)r); note of contents and pressmark 'Cifra I', fol. 1(a) recto, in the same hand.

Possibly identifiable as I 15 in the Eberbach library catalogue of 1502, although that entry could equally refer to another copy of the text.
