Provenance
Newstead, Nottinghamshire, Augustinian priory of St Mary the Virgin (?): Bodleian, Laud Misc. 428 and Laud Misc. 285 may have belonged to Newstead, Lincs., or more probably, Newstead, Notts., since they came to Laud from William le Neve, like Laud Lat. 34 (q.v.). Initial P very like that in Laud Misc. 428. Both MSS. in 2 cols., of 29 leaves. (MLGB3: evidence from the style of script or illumination).
Le Neve. Laudian date 1639 on a leaf supplied, s. xvii (in Laud Misc. 428 it is on the same leaf as the Newstead inscr.). (MLGB3)
