Summary
A York priest's note-book. (fol. 1) Devotions comprising benedictions, commemorations (fol. 3v), including those of st. William [of York] (fol. 8v) and the Blessed Virgin (fol. 17v), followed by theological and liturgical jottings amongst which are:
Fol. 34v. A verse 'compotus manualis', beg. 'Filius esto dei celum bonus accipe grates'; satirical rhymes, beg. 'Quid est mulier? hominis confusio' (fol. 37) and ending 'explicit quod R[obertus] Burton' (fol. 44) (cf. fols. 2, 45); and Latin versions of Hebrew proper names, headed 'Hie incipiunt interpretaciones' (fol. 46v)
Fol. 53v. 'Ejusdem Gualteri Mapes rythmi ad sacerdotes' (17th-cent. heading), beg. 'Viri venerabiles sacerdotes dei', and (fol. 65) a York calendar, on parchment
Fol. 71. tables of the date of Easter, 1471-1576, with golden numbers and dominical letters, followed by a 'ready reckoner'
Fol. 76. 'Ecce qualiter se debet sacerdos habere cum ad corpus Christi conficiendum accedit', beg. 'Ad missam celebrandam sex concedero'; and (fol. 78v) hexameters relating chiefly to the sacraments but also to the whole conduct of a priest; (fol. 92v) rules for various contingencies, beg. 'Presbiter potest supplere missam ab episcopo inchoatam'; (fol. 94v) a sermon on tears, derived from st. Augustine
