Summary

Collections by Archbishop Ussher, chiefly relating to Chronology, sacred and classical, among which are:

(fol. 7) notes by 'Josua Hoyle' chiefly about a Syriac commentary on the Bible, autograph, Nov. 22, abt. 1630-48;

(fol. 9) 'Tabule ab ortu mundi ad Vespasianum', in Thomas Lydyat's hand, cf. fols. 288, 297;

(fol. 61) a note signed 'Wm Methwold', about the current measures of time in the East Indies;

(fol. 53)'Insigniorum Imperiorum et Regnorum, quae ante Christi... adventum ... floruerunt Successiones et Tempora ... digesta à Jacobo Usserio ...', followed by two leaves only of the treatise, but many other papers in these volumes of Collections would fit into it;

(fol. 104) a letter from Robert Chambers (d. 1624) to Ussher on the chronology of the book of Daniel, Nov. 18, 1612;

(fol. 106) 'Certaine thinges of which (by letter) I [i.e. Robert Thornton] requested a frend of mine to talk with mr [Edward] Livelie', also about Daniel, cf. fol. 125;

(fol. 141v) 'Institutionum Chronologicarum liber primus' by Ussher, a fragment, cf. fol. 239;

(fol. 159) The longitude of the principal fixed stars in Jan. 1601.

The bulk of the papers are Ussher's own chronological notes, and excerpts from authors. A list of contents by J. Tyrrell is at fol. 5.
