(fols. 5-6r, 7-14r rectos only) an essay 'On War, some memories by J.E. Flecker', first published as 'Forgotten warfare' in the New Statesman, 24 Oct 1914

(fols. 14v-19r) an amended copy of the poem 'The burial in England', first published in the Sphere, 27 Feb 1915

(fols. 20-21) two versions of an unpublished verse translation of Paul Fort's 'Senlis of a morning'; one (fol. 21) is in Helle Flecker's hand

(fols. 22-23r) an amended, incomplete copy of 'Ode to the glory of Greece', first published in Collected Poems

(fols. 27v-30r) an extensively revised copy of a poem 'The Battleship', Oct 1914, first published as 'The old warship ablaze' in the Sphere, 26 Dec 1914

(fol. 31r) a copy of a poem 'November Evenings…', first published as 'November' in the New Statesman, 14 Nov 1914

(fols. 86v, 88v-91r) notes on metre, rhyme and poetic vocabulary

(fols. 91v-93r) drafts of the 'East Gate' section from 'Gates of Damascus'

(fols. 93v-97) revised copies and drafts of 'Taoping', first collected in The Golden Journey to Samarkand.

Fols. 14v-19r, 27v-30r and 31r were first collected posthumously in The Old Ships.

Fols. 32-85 are blank.
