Decoration

Red initials, with foliate decoration at the beginning of the manuscript.

Binding

Brown tanned calf over laminated pulpboard for Abp. Laud, 1637–1639.

Former chained binding.

Acquisition

Part of his third donation to the Bodleian, 1639.

Provenance

Probably from the Eberbach scriptorium (Palmer, p. 297).

Possibly the same as Collectarium super magnificat, mentioned in the book list of Johannes Sachs in Eberbach's property in Kiedrich in 1494 (Palmer, p. 297; see J. Staab, 'Zwei Bibliotheken in Kiedrich aus der Zeit der Erfindung der Buchdrukkerkunst', in Nassauische Annalen 105 (1994) 79–101, at p. 84).

Identifiable as S 2 in the Eberbach library catalogue of 1502.
