Binding
15th century, late, Italian (as MS.): wood boards; quarter-binding of red leather (discoloured to brown), fixed halfway across each bare board with vertical rows of 1+5+1 nails and lost edging strips; remains of a central clasp, with lost strap of multi-coloured brocade; lion emblem of Florence painted on the front paste-down. Lost intermediate repairs to spine; rebacked, 20th century, Bodleian, retaining about half of original spine. 227–231 145–146 c. 13 (book closed).
