Summary
Image titled "Arch at Fontainebleau, done by my methods, by a French artist", taken between 1 Aug 1835 and 20 Feb 1848. The french artist in question is the Marquis of Bassano, Joseph Hugues, to whom the original negative has been attributed. Annotations by Sir David Brewster on a print of this image at the J Paul Getty read "H. F. Talbot copied".
The correct name for the gateway pictured is the Dauphin's Entrance, sometimes also called the Baptistry Entrance.
Along the lower edge of the album page, written in ink, the image is captioned "Fontainebleau".
The reverse of the album leaf is blank.
