Summary
David Dimbleby discusses poverty and Oxfam's efforts in relief work and through projects supporting long term development. He is filmed in an Oxfam shop, where he finds a toy llama from Peru and beads from southern Africa. He explains that Oxfam goes to great lengths to avoid wasting money received and reads from a file relating to work in Dahomey (later Benin) to illustrate this. 'They're never just cash handouts, they always aim at encouraging and teaching people to make things a bit better for themselves'. Produced for United Motion Pictures for Oxfam.
