Provenance
Buildwas, Shropshire, Savigniac and (1147) Cistercian abbey of St Mary the Virgin and St Chad (?) : Medieval binding, with nailmarks for bosses at each corner and in centre of front cover (cf. Bodley 371, 395); style of initials (cf. Bodley 395) suggests provenance; inscription in alternate green and black words 'Liber sancte marie [. . . .]' at foot of verso of flyleaf facing first leaf of text. (MLGB3: evidence from binding or pastedowns and from the style of script or illumination).
Later belonged to the London Carmelites: "Conventus Carmelitorum Londonie ex assignacione fratris Thome Walden." (fol. 1r, at top). I 66 m (fol. 1r, at top, above right side of 1st col.). (MLGB3: evidence from an ex-libris inscription or note of gift to an institution)
