Copied (according to a note by R. W. Hunt in his copy of the Summary Catalogue) by James Dalrymple of Ayr, an amaneuensis employed by Henry Savile in Oxford and on the continent (J.-L. Quentin, 'Historical Criticism, Confessional Controversy, and Self-Censorship: Henry Savile and the Lives of John Chrysostom', Erudition and the Republic of Letters6 (2021) 138-223.

Binding

Early seventeenth century binding of calf over pasteboards, perhaps attributable to Williamson of Eton College (for whom see Robert Birley, 'The History of Eton College Library', The Library, 5th ser. 11 (1956), 231–261, at 246-9), stamped in gilt with cornerpieces and a centerpiece, in the centre of which is a tree with the device 'Noli alium sapere'; ties lost.

Acquisition

Given by Sir Henry Savile in 1609.
