Provenance

The additions indicate that the manuscript belonged to a community following the observance of the Teutonic Order (Deutscher Orden). Van Dijk and Hunt suggested that it belonged specifically to the Deutschordenskommende Sachsenhausen in Frankurt am Main. They seem to have done so only on the basis of the opening formula of a German letter on fol. 92v which reads in full: Dem wurdigenn herrn Waltherum [or Walthernn] von Cronberg Compthur zu Frankfurt teutsches ordens: Walther von Kronberg, ?1479–1543, who held this office in 1509 (B. Dudik, Des hohen Deutschen Ritterordens Münz-Sammlung in Wien (Vienna, 1858), 152).

William Laud, 1573–1645, 1637.
