File 1, fols. 1-75: Draft chapter of a booklet on "Native Administration" planned by Lugard to encapsulate the conclusions he had reached while revising The Dual Mandate and to define the real meaning of indirect rule and segregation and their application to the different kinds of dependencies and to post-war policy. Two copies of his rough draft with notes on those to whom it was sent for criticism and comments by Margery Perham, [1942]-1944.

File 6, fols. 1-4 and item 1: Memorandum on "Native Administration" prepared for the Uganda Protectorate by Sir Philip Mitchell, with Lugard's notes on it, 1939.
File 7, fols. 1-63: Evidence by Lugard given before the Indian Committee of 1924, notes by him on administrative separation, Closer Union and Kenya and a discussion with Sir Edward Grigg in 1927, and part of a memorandum submitted by Margery Perham to the Joint Select Committee on East Africa with Lugard's comments, n.d. Also an extract from the confidential proceedings of the first draft report of the Joint Select Committee and notes on the Kenya Legislative Council Debate of 15 April 1942. These were all used by Lugard when drafting the booklet.
