Shelfmark
MS. M. Deneke Mendelssohn c. 77
Summary
F. Mendelssohn Bartholdy wrote his name inside front cover. A slip in Cécile's hand shows that she intended to give both volumes to Professor Otto Jahn (MS. M. Deneke Mendelssohn c. 76, fol. ii).
The manuscript is closely related both to the one in the Nationalbibliothek, Vienna, for which see the Beethoven-Archiv, Bonn, Werke, II. 2, 1970, p. VIII, and the corrected copy of the piano arrangement, with which are shared the Italian version of the title and the heading (MS. M. Deneke Mendelssohn c. 76, fol. 50v) 'Atto 2do'. Copying errors were made in MS. M. Deneke Mendelssohn c. 77 on fol. 19v, where two pages were probably turned together, and between fols. 90v and 95v, where a quire? of the original may have been misplaced.
