MS. Dodsworth 45, 1638, 138 leaves: Collections by Roger Dodsworth, chiefly from the muniments of Northumberland landowners; Northumberland deeds in articles 2, 3, 7, 8, have been calendared in Northumberland and Durham Deeds (Newcastle-upon-Tyne Records Series, vol. vii.):

The Shap chartulary is untraced; the chartularies of Lanercost and Wetheral are extant only in late transcripts. Interspersed are a few Cumberland pedigrees, including (fol. 27v) one of Curwen of Workington. A copy of this section is in Brit. Mus. Harl. MS. 294, artt. 76-82.

2. Fol. 33. Abstracts of deeds of sir John Fenwick of Wallington, including, besides 13th-16th cent. family evidences (manors of Prestwick, etc.), a few deeds of Hexham priory (fols. 33, 35), and an abstract of the Black Book of Hexham (fol. 37).

3. Fol. 47. Abstracts of the family deeds (12th-16th cent.) of William Swinburne of Capheaton: interspersed with them are a few deeds of the Strother family. A number of these deeds have been printed from the originals at Capheaton in Hodgson's History of Northumberland, part iii, vols. i-ii.

4. Fols. 63, 79. Brief notes taken at Durham from the registers of the prior and convent (fols. 63, 67, 80), from the episcopal registers (fol. 64v), and on heraldry in the cathedral (fols. 64v, 79, 81v): also a few notes of monuments in the churches of Penrith (fol. 65v) and Gosberkirk and Waddington (fol. 68v).

5. Fol. 69. Copies of deeds relating to Newburgh priory, etc., in the possession of Thomas, lord Fauconberg: see also fol. 62.

6. Fol. 73. Abstracts of deeds, pedigree, and genealogical notes of the family of Meynell of Hilton and North Kilvington.

7. Fols. 77, 82, 113. Abstracts of deeds (13th-16th cent.) of Ralph Carnaby of Halton, being evidences of the families of Carnaby (manor of Great Whittington, etc.) and of Horsley of Crawcrook.

8. Fols. 89, 119. Abstracts of the family evidences of sir William Widdrington of Widdrington (manors of Widdrington, Haughton, Colwell, Great Swinburne, etc.), followed (fols. 101, 119) by transcripts of deeds not material to title, including various deeds of the Harbottle family (fol. 121v) and deeds of the Gernon family relating to Weston Colville in Cambridgeshire (fol. 109).

9. Fol. 116v. Brief notes of the family deeds of sir Edward Radcliffe of Dilston: the originals are now among the Greenwich Hospital deeds in the Public Record Office.

10. Fol. 126. Pedigrees of a few Northumbrian families (named in Hunter's Three Catalogues) in part from 'Sir Thomas Shirley's booke', followed at fol. 131 by a list of sheriffs of Northumberland, taken from the pipe rolls, 1 Hen. ii-23 Hen. vii.

MS. Dodsworth 46, 1630, 123 leaves: 'Liber feodarius de Richmondshire', generally known as Registrum honoris de Richmond, a copy identical in its contents with Brit. Mus. Harl. MS. 3674. Dodsworth has added a collation of the extract from Kirkby's inquest at fol. 48 with Brit. Mus. Add. MS. 26729 or with a similar text. An index of surnames is at fol. ii and of place-names in MS. Dodsworth 21.

MS. Dodsworth 47, 1640, 169 leaves: Extracts from the Black Book (barons' cartels of 1166) and (fol. 57) the Red Book, of the Exchequer, viz. the scutage lists of Richard 1 and 2 John and (fol. 101) the lists of knights' fees and serjeanties of 1210-12. Fols. 85-96 are in Dodsworth's hand. A table of contents by Thomas, lord Brudenell, is prefixed at fol. ii. Other extracts from the Red Book are in MSS. Dodsworth 35, 89, and 141.
