File 1, fols. 1-312: Correspondence concerning the threat to indigenous rights posed by the discovery of several gold-reefs in the Kavirondo Reserve in West Kakamega, with manuscript notes by Lugard on the related papers, 1932-1933. Correspondents and providers of information include the Church Missionary Society, Sir Robert Hamilton, William MacGregor Ross, Archdeacon Owen, J.H. Oldham, H.D. Hooper, W.A. Pitt Pitts, Reverend T.F.C. Bewes of the Kenya Missionary Council, Hildegarde Hinde, Sir James Byrne, Sir William Morris Carter, Cosmo Lang (Archbishop of Canterbury), Alan Don (his secretary), Malcolm MacDonald, Herbert Samuel, Sir John Harris, Sir Humphry Leggett, L.S.B.
