Summary
Vol. 1 Portraits, pedigree notes and papers. The portraits are not valuable. The pedigree notes (fols. 14-38) contain valuable information for the history of the Fairfax family in the 16th, 17th and 18th centt., for the greater part almost contemporary. Fols. 39-127 are miscellaneous, including copies of:
(fol. 40) a draft of a short Bill for the establishment of Presbyterianism, 1559
(fol. 55) letter from Sir Henry Sidney to his son Philip beg. 'I have received tow letters')
(fol. 59) papers about Scotch legal proceedings against David Black, 1585 and Andrew Melvill, 1586-1602 (fol. 62), and at Aberdeen, 1605 (fol. 101)
(fol. 103) autobiographical memoranda of Henry Fairfax's life at Cambridge 1602-1617
(fol. 106) Cambridge University Statutes, etc. in Elizabeth's reign
At fol. 127 begin deeds, letters and papers to and by Thomas 1st lord Fairfax, Ferdinand 2nd lord Fairfax, sir John Ogle, Charles Fairfax, and others, 1604-1629.
