parchment; bookmark made of blue thread sewn into the outer centre marks the beginning of the Communale or Sanctorale respectively. Six small contemporary parchment pieces inserted between leaves (fols 2/23 (the small stub between 14/15); 50/51 and 58/59; 76/77 and 80/81; 158/159 and 168/169; 173/174 and 177/178; 424/425 and 432/433) containing sermons.

Marginalia in contemporary and later hands; some hands s. xv are from the Mainz Charterhouse.

Reversed tanned calf over laminated pulpboard for Archbp. Laud, 1637–1639. Seven slits from a previous binding visible.
Acquisition
Given to the Bodleian as part of his third donation, dispatched on 28 June 1639.

Mainz, Carthusian abbey of St Michael: the late 14th-cent. ex-libris inscription at the upper centre of fol. 444v: ‘Iste liber est Cartusiensium prope mogunciam’ (partly boxed in).
